Our retailer partners mix the charm, knowledge and convenience of a local store with the quality and competitive prices of a national one. The buying power of a combined network helps Independent Retailers to offer great value. For example, many IGA retailers offer low prices across products that matter to shoppers through the Price Match program, which matches the prices on 100’s of everyday products to the big supermarket chains.
Our network is made up of family businesses where decisions are made around dining room tables, not boardrooms. Each store strives to be the ‘Best Store in Town’, offering its own unique character, from the products they sell to the local people who work there.
Our Independent Retailers are able to tailor their offerings to their local communities, with a personal level of service, showcasing the benefits of what shopping independent really means. The stores that we support sit at the heart of the local community, sourcing the best products from local producers and helping the local economy.
Our IGA Community Chest program helps IGA retailers to support an enormous variety of local community initiatives and charities. To date, the IGA Community Chest and associated programs have given back over $83 million to local communities.
We also offer Independent Retailers an exclusive range of products called Community Co, which not only offers great value but also gives a percentage of proceeds back to local Australian communities.
Metcash’s Convenience division provides a ‘one wholesale solution’ for more than 150,000 customers nationwide including; forecourt retail, convenience businesses, small coffee shops, fresh food outlets and restaurants.
In 2017 Metcash merged Campbells Cash & Carry with C-Store Distribution to create a single Convenience business. With a clear focus on our customers, we are committed to offering; ‘Choice, Service and Price’.
A single nationally managed sales team assists Metcash’s Convenience customers wherever they are in Australia. We offer a telesales service and web-based ordering, and a mobile app is currently in development which will enable shop floor ordering. We are also trialling enhanced delivery services with smaller, multi-temperature trucks delivering on flexible schedules to suit customer needs in several locations.
The Convenience division is a flexible, one-stop shop for Convenience customers, for example; products can be purchased in single units or cases, to enable small top-up orders throughout the week.
In 2016, we launched ‘Low Down Prices’, offering competitive everyday prices on 300 high volume products, with additional products continuing to be added.
Metcash is committed to continuing to develop its convenience business for the benefit of both our customers and our suppliers.

We recognise that every one of us is an individual and that each city or town where we have stores is different. We understand that we are a culturally diverse nation of more than 23 million people with different likes and dislikes.
As a result, through our network of independently owned stores (all 1,400 of them), we tailor our ranges and brands to give our local customers more of what they like. This includes many of your favourite brands; the ones you may no longer find on shelves in other supermarkets.
We proudly support Aussie producers too, by stocking ranges of locally-made products.
We actively participate in the communities around our stores doing whatever we can to help local schools, surf clubs or hospitals whether it’s footie balls for the under 14s or life-saving equipment.
Foodland stores are local, independently owned supermarkets so when you shop with us you help support your local community. Foodland is indeed ‘The Mighty South Aussies’.
Foodland retailers have been supporting South Aussie sporting and community clubs, charities and schools for 50 years. Our retailers donate to over 200 sporting clubs, 100 schools and kindergartens and over 250 other charities and community groups every year.
We proudly support Minda and Little Heroes Foundation, both of which make our communities happier places. Our community focus would not have been possible without the great support of our loyal customers along with the many valued suppliers to Foodland. We are continuing to support many worthwhile charities in 2016 and we remain committed to the South Aussie community.
