As the ’Champion of the Independent Retailer’ Metcash is committed to supporting independent retailers by providing a comprehensive range of services. These include retail system support on twenty-four hour call, in-store training and a range of specialist service personnel including channel managers, business and fresh food managers. These service teams work with the individual retailers to grow both the brand and the individual businesses. The Company also provides a retail development and store equipment service to assist in expanding, refurbishing or building new sites. A Non-Trade Procurement group helps retailers reduce costs through collective negotiation on electricity, insurance, EFTPOS and other areas.
IGA’s Community Chest: Putting money back into your neighbourhood All over the country, local community organisations, charities, clubs and sporting groups are working hard to give something to their members or the people that live in their community. Many of these groups operate through the work of volunteers and people who share a common interest or goal.
Each IGA store makes community donations to these groups. By shopping in an IGA store and buying IGA branded products or selected lines market with the Community Chest logo, a guaranteed percentage from each of these products sold is set aside. At the end of each year, your local IGA store selects a local group or charity to donate all of the money that has been collected at the store.
